Kelly that is a stunning fly -- the warmth of the yellow and orange and the soft cool blue. Really well done! I bet fish will like it too.

Thanks Ken! The wing had gray followed by kingfisher blue hackles. (light to med gray)
I am glad you like the fly. :-) I had not been tying many long featherwings before I came up with this pattern.

Wow Kelly I love the pattern and amazing job on tying it. I will have to try and tie a few of these up before opening day. I have a soft spot for any streamers with blue in it for fishing our rivers here.

One more tip I can attest to. Wear polypro or the like under and over. I took a dunk one cold morning in March over a mile from the truck. I was wearing a belt, so not much got down the waders. I wrung my fleece shirt and polypro top out, put them and my jacket back on and kept fishing. Only shivered while I was topless!

Where can i get the rubber bands you used for the guides. I like your idea with that white constrictor to slide it up the blank. Do you make them yourself?? Rich Thanks, great article.

Great article... but you forgot one thing - AGE.
Please don't step into my river unless you are a least 60 - I have earned the right to be here - young punk.
I may stand here all day and cast a size 28 midge and catch nothing, but don't come here and catch MY fish using that fancy schmancy new technique called nymphing - that's not flyfishing. It's borderline snagging...

RASKE?!? No freakin' way. Thanks for the kind words, man. It's been a long time. I hope you are pleased that we're keeping Raske's streamer page alive. And you should realize the silver pheasant wing quills above are the ones you sent me years ago along with a couple dyed olive mallard flank feathers for flatwings. Fly tyers don't throw away anything.
