The idea behind the rod holder is simple: it's a special made device, which allows you to strap the rods on the outside of the car, and drive while the rods are mounted in this way.

One of my pre season chores is sorting out my flox boxes. You know - discarding flies that have outlived their usefulness, adding to stock from all the winter tying, and generally tidying up. I take all my boxes and my stock flies, grab an empty box, and fill it.

Still, no matter how many flies I have, there will be one day on the river where I won't have anything in my box that feels right. That's just the way it is.
