Car rod holders

The idea behind the rod holder is simple: it's a special made device, which allows you to strap the rods on the outside of the car, and drive while the rods are mounted in this way.
The rods are strapped down fully rigged and assembled with reels, lines and even flies in place.

Small Fry, 8

Light gear is best for little fish for two big reasons: first, light or ultralight outfits provide the most sport by giving these fish their best fighting chance; second, lighter outfits make fly fishing possible in unforgiving casting situations that leave little room for human error.

Locked and Loaded

One of my pre season chores is sorting out my flox boxes. You know - discarding flies that have outlived their usefulness, adding to stock from all the winter tying, and generally tidying up. I take all my boxes and my stock flies, grab an empty box, and fill it.

Still, no matter how many flies I have, there will be one day on the river where I won't have anything in my box that feels right. That's just the way it is.

The landing net for the coast

I often wonder what US fishers do if they stumble on a really big fish that they want to net. I'm aware that many fishers land many - if not all - of their fish with the hands. I use the hands for all but the largest. But still it must happen that fishers strike on a brown trout or rainbow is much too big for these small snow shoe nets.

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
See more details about what you can do to help in this blog post.
